Who: Narcissa Malfoy and Evan Rosier
What: drinks.
Where: The Blue Cow
When: Monday evening.
Narcissa felt isolated. She knew she wasn’t the only one who felt that way, it was the way of the village to leave you sorting out your insecurities, she’d just had this talk with Ernie. She felt like she was drifting, without any destination and no one to reach out to. She’d come from a strange time in her life, after having cleared her family name, struggling to bring it’s reputation to what it once was. Here, she was labeled the Death Eaters wife by those who fought for the Order, and the traitor to those few who remained loyal to the Dark Lord. She tried, but felt constantly reminded of her failings.
And she had nowhere to turn. She couldn’t lay her burdens on her son, she and Lucius had done that once, and she would not again. Both of her older sisters were younger than her, and while Andromeda was closer in age, Narcissa wasn’t sure if Andromeda had the time or wants to deal with her problems. And then there was the subject of Lucius. She felt apart from him, whether it was the near decade between them, or the fact that they were just different people (though, to be honest, she felt it back home after the war too). There was a disconnect between them, and she couldn’t remember the last time they’d had a substantial conversation, and she… wasn’t sure what there was left for them.
It was this that brought her wandering into the village, a robe pulled tight to fight the perceived chill in the air. Maybe she was imagining the cold, and the silence that hung over her in the Manor. She had nowhere to be, and instead found herself in the pub. She ordered a glass of wine, and moved to a back corner booth, sliding into the corner. The pub was mostly empty, which suited Narcissa fine. It wasn’t proper to be out at a bar on a Monday night, alone and drinking wine, but she found that she had little care for that in the moment.
