"And you didn't?" he asked, fairly certain that she'd cheated as well. She hadn't, but he believed she had. "You started that countdown before I was ready. I didn't stand a chance." He would believe that as long as he was in the village without disappearing, which he hoped was a good, long time. Gideon sat down onto the swing next to her and gave himself some movement with just his toes. He wasn't trying very hard; he just didn't want to sit still on a playground toy that was created to be in motion. Gideon didn't mind having Amelia stick her tongue out at him. It was amusing.
Eventually, he'd probably give up and let her win something. He used to let her win things at home, but she was normally nine years younger than he was and that was just nice. Gideon was very happy she was older here, though. Very happy with that. "You'll find something to beat me at," he said with a grin on his face. "Maybe." He added that on as a sort of ominous joke, not completely sure he'd let her win something. He was only pretty sure. Maybe he'd make Amelia try for it. No one knew!
"Of course I'm not going to push you. I won. You should be pushing me." Gideon grinned innocently in her direction, which basically meant he smiled only with his mouth and not with his eyes. He was going for being completely unsuspicious. He figured he did a decent job at it.
