"Aye," Oli said, turning his head so his cheek was on his knee instead of his chin, so that he could talk. "I'll talk to her. And then she'll meet Comet and she'll tell you he's the brightest, best behaved puppy she ever met. She'll also tell you he's magic," Oli added with a grin. He wasn't even sure why he kept insisting on that. Comet really hadn't shown a single trace of actual magic up to date.
Oliver rolled his eyes at Percy's protest. "You don't need to let him on your bed to cuddle him," he said. Oliver did understand why Percy didn't want Comet on his bed or the couch (not that Oliver completely stuck to the rules when it came to the couch), but he could tell that Percy liked the cuddling, even if he didn't really admit it. It looked good, too, the way Percy sat there, all sleep ruffled with Comet cuddled up to him. Sitting on Percy's bed with him reminded Oli vaguely of his second boyfriend and how they'd always spent lazy mornings in bed with cups of tea and diet-friendly breakfast.
"It's good that I don't know the details," Oli said. As long as the gossip was about his work and not his private life Oli was sure his future self dealt with it alright.
