"Oh." Greg thought about that. "Guess it wasn't a school back then, was it? I liked it there, except for the whole school part. Wasn't good at all that. But the food was good, and the beds were nice. Better than home, anyway. Still, seems like it'd be kinda lonely if it was just a house, though. Too much empty space."
He blinked over at her, watching her as she toyed with her shoes. "Married? You're just a kid, what're you thinking about getting married for?" He looked away a moment later, realizing it was none of his business. He didn't take the words back, since he was curious, but he gave her a chance to not answer if she didn't want to. "I always wanted a tree house back home, but...nearest trees were in a park a few lots down, and they was kinda small and weak. If you need any help, I'm good at building things."
He laughed, but it was more a strained puff of air than a real sound. "Oh, I mean. Just 'cause it's me saying it. You know, what's a bloke like me got to think about?"
