Ernie couldn't imagine not having a goal. His life was planned to the T under normal circumstances. Then again, the village was anything but a normal circumstance. "Ana is a lovely person." Ernie wondered if he should have just let Isabella's remark go. Was Ana the elephant in the room? Sometimes he did find it odd having his future wife near, but he never thought it should make a difference. Helga disagreed when she was in village, saying if Ernie and Ana found love in one place, they should try in another. He resisted because, well, he wasn't anywhere near the person who married Ana yet.
He cleared his throat. "Anyway, this meal is really good. Thank you again." The awkwardness killed him.
