She knew it in the hesitation. She knew it in the look of heartbreak on Fleur's face. She knew it in her own mind and heart before any words were said and yet she still was clinging to that last shred of hope. The minuscule chance that it had been a dream. Imagined. James Sirius would come over in a few minutes to check on her and offer one of his goofy smiles. The space between when she asked the question and it was answered was the only space in which Jamie could be alive.
And with four small words, that space disappeared and Ginny felt tears stinging her eyes. It felt like it couldn't be real. Like it was happening to someone else. "Oh God." She breathed, looking away for a long moment. And with Jamie's death being real...how many others were there? Who else had been taken from them? She reached out for Fleur's hand, not usually one to seek out help or comfort, but needing it in that moment.
"Who else?" She asked, her voice cracking a bit. She was terrified of the answer and not even sure if she wanted to hear it. Or if she'd be able to handle hearing it. "No. Nevermind." She said, shaking her head again. "Bloody hell."
