There were many things that were hard to miss when one had another person pressed against oneself, and Gideon definitely felt her body shudder as she sobbed. Really, it was a wonder she didn't completely collapse into him now that the majority of the fighting seemed to be finished. She didn't let go and devolve into a crying mess of the woman he knew, which was commendable. She couldn't even claim Gryffindor as the source of her bravery because she hadn't been one of those. Gideon found himself being proud of her, though. But he usually was, so it couldn't really be a surprise.
"Logical or not, it needs to happen." Gideon didn't want to argue about what made sense and what didn't. It wasn't a matter of that. it was a matter of what she had to do to stay alive and healthy. If Amelia started failing, Gideon would like the village a whole lot less than he usually did. Sure, the monsters made him like it less, too, but they would hopefully be eliminated completely and things would return back to normal. Assuming they still could after something huge like that. He was a little surprised that Amelia wanted him to stay. He assumed she would've wanted to get some sleep like he suggested. "Yeah, sure," he replied. She did have a point. At that moment, it was safer than being alone.
He wasn't missing much at the moment. Just like he'd noticed her breath falter, he noticed her wince. "You all right?" His hand moved up and down her arm again. "Maybe we should get your brother to look at you."
