Gideon was dead tired. He was physically exhausted, but mentally, he was still battling those...things. His brain was still working hard and he was still on high alert for any signs of more movement from the woods. But he knew he needed rest, and he wished he was able to close his eyes for a few hours. He just couldn't. He needed to be ready at a moment's notice if those bastards were heard from again. There were people in the village who couldn't fight anymore and they were counting on Gideon and the rest of the people who could. He had to keep going, even if he got himself more injured in the process. He'd just get patched up again and keep on going.
He was worried about all the people he hadn't seen. He was mad that Godric was dead. He was mad that his great-nephew was dead. Hell, he was mad that anyone was killed by these things. They had to figure out how to get rid of them once and for all, but Gideon was stumped on that front. Someone else would have to figure that out, unless he had a sudden epiphany. Now that the creatures had gone back into the woods (presumably to regroup for a second attack) the village had time to recover what it could, take care of its dead, and rest. Gideon had things to do, though, and people to check up on. After checking in with the family he could find, he went to find Amelia.
There was no rhyme or reason to why the people Amelia cared about were continuously taken from her. It happened in the regular world to Edgar, Sally, and their family. Why should it happen in this magical village? And why did her niece have to die? Regardless of whether or not his nephews would find a way to bring her back, why did it have to happen to Amelia? He knew she would be taking it hard. Edgar was busy healing. Sally was sick because of those damn creatures. Hestia was somewhere. They'd all be concerned about her, but he knew where she was. Gideon sat down next to Amelia when he reached her. "I'm fine," he replied. It was both the truth and a lie. "Are you?" Regardless of what she said, he knew that she wasn't.
