Greg stood where he was, watching the monster lurching around after taking the shot to the head. It had snapped the thing's neck back pretty good, but Greg wasn't gonna relax until the thing was a caved-in puddle on the ground.
"Oh, it's gonna die, don't you worry about that. They're all gonna die." He hefted the club in his hand, but was distracted by the bits and things flinging themselves at the monster from behind him. He turned a glare on her. "Stop that before you bloody well kill both of us. That stuff's gonna get you raving any minute now, you're gonna think everything's a fucking monster."
He hesitated, hearing the anger in his voice and knowing he was taking his shite out on the wrong person. Was something he did sometimes when his temper was acting up, but he tried to stop it when he saw it was happening. He glanced at the monster to make sure it was still staggering, and then looked at the girl and lowered his voice a bit. "You got other horses that need to be looked after? You still got people around here caring about what happens to you? Just take a step back and let me handle this, right? Don't nobody care if I live or die, and you need to get to help before things stop making sense."
