Lee was exhausted. It had been a hell if a day, and it wasn't over. All he wanted was to find his friends, find a corner, and hide behind them. Not very Gryffindor of him, but he needed a moment with them to lose his cool. But that had to wait. There was one job still to do. The monsters had retreated. They left broken bodies and minds in their wake, but it was the hearts that would take the longest to heal. Lee knew that this village had a way of bringing people in. If someone died here, they weren't gone for good because they lived on in the other timelines. But the news he had to bear would devastate. He searched the faces in the community centre for six year old Albus. He sought the little boy who used to climb into his lap when his cousins were too much and study the lion tattoo. He was gad he didn't have to tell a kid this news, but he hated that he was about to break Albus Potter's heart.
It was late, but Lee didn't think most would be sleeping. He found Albus in his corner and sat down next to him n"Hey, kid." His exhaustion and raw emotions sounded in his voice, and it was a force of will for him to keep his face from cracking. "Your brother," his voice shook and tears prickled the corners of his eyes. "Your brother died, Albus. I didn't see it. I know he fought hard. I saw your mum with Remus. After." Lee hung his head and fought with his emotions. "I'm sorry, kid."
