Lea Mathews ignores the moon. (perniciously) wrote in fourteenshades, |
Lea was shocked that Colin was that close. That he was touching her. Shocked enough that her focus was back and on him. The petrified body wasn't actually by the bridge like she thought. She knew he was right, and her self-loathing, her unworthiness, and her grief over what she did to him dispelled the feeling of losing blood. "I can't say that one. I can't even think it. I never wanted to.." Tears streamed down her cheeks and over his hands.
She let Colin pull her to her feet. "If he were really here," she said slowly, fighting to keep her focus on his words, "he would need protection from me." There was an edge to her voice that left little room for argument or doubt. When she spoke, it was a promise made with clear thought. "That isn't the fever talking," she said, stumbling a little as she found her knees. She was short of breath and she didn't trust herself in the least. "You owe me nothing," she said, breathlessly. "I know I owe you my life." She held her wand out to him. "For safe keeping."
