“Well,” Lorcan said with a sigh, setting down next to him. “It’s not necessarily something that’s wrong” he said nervously. He reached out a bit, subconsciously reaching out and petting the squirming badger as he thought.
“And, you know, I want to explain why it took so long to tell you, and it’s not that I didn’t think you’d understand, or that it’s… that big a deal back home, but I just… didn’t know how to bring it up, you know? But, with everything that’s happening, I don’t want to be a burden or anything, but you need to know. I’m a squib, dad, not a drop of magic in me.” Lorcan kept his voice as even as possible, just unusually nervous. He knew his parents loved him, he knew they excepted him in every way, but it was always strange to admit such things to someone.
