Albus no longer wanted a family dinner. He loved them, of course, but he was sad about Remus leaving (he also really missed Summer and Kensi) and even sadder that his mother expected him to want people who rejected him and his siblings to attend. It felt like a betrayal, but he was scared to say it so he kept it locked away save telling Scorpius, but Scorpius did not count. He was Al's best mate. Everyone should know Al told Scorpius everything.
Al was scared that he was turning into the quiet and withdrawn young man others told him about. No one seemed to know what spurred it or how long it lasted, but Al didn't want to be that person. Secrets hurt. Secrets meant explosions. Would he explode? It felt as crummy as when he experimented with dark magic. He took a small comfort in thinking he might have written down all his thoughts when he went quiet, but was publishing a book more important than sharing his love with others? Was anything more important than caring about people? He didn't even know if his quiet period meant a publication anyway. It could all be for naught.
Albus did not want to become that man so he was trying desperately to hang on to what he could. Right then? Holding on meant the tree-house with mates. He brought several boxes of pizza with him, cast some warming charms for them and cooling charms for the tree.
Then he waited. He hoped people showed. He knew he wasn't as interesting as some others.
