Alphard allowed himself a small smile as Walburga squirmed against his side, making herself comfortable with her toes tucked beneath his thigh. "I'd never leave you." he insisted, though he knew one day he would. A combination of loyalty to his nephew and the desire to truly be himself had driven him from her side once and for all. He couldn't deal with anymore heartbreak though. He would not have the life he wished. Well, he would, for a bit, and then he would pay the ultimate price for it.
"Let's just settle on it now. That no matter what should happen, we will always come back to the other, yes? Because I cannot bear being without you any longer, Walburga. It's .... I just ... can't. I have no idea how I manage without you in the future, nor do I want to. If this place is for second chances, we'll make it count." he insisted, sounding more hopeful than he actually was. To be honest, he had very little at the moment. He just wanted to keep himself distracted from his future, from Florean's. The how's and why's were all spinning around his head, turning over and getting more awful with each one. He needed something else.
