Edwyn Ravenclaw, Duke of Argyll (supersagacious) wrote in fourteenshades, |
Edwyn nodded at the boy's thanks and watched as he began to inhale the food. Slowly, he poured a glass of the juice and placed it in front of the young Viking. "Breathe, man," he said in Vogg's language. "There are better ways to die than choking on shepherd's pie."
He looked at the state of the boy and instantly began to worry. He was clearly living rough, and it still got cold at night. He didn't have any shoes on, and Edwyn thought this might be the first real meal he'd had for a while. Hating that he was even thinking it, he slowly got to his feet and rifled through the cabinets until he found a basket. Into that, he put a loaf of bread, some dried meat, apples, oranges, and a bottle so Vogg could get water, and a bar of chocolate. He held it up so the boy could see. "Don't eat all of this at once," he warned in Norse. "It will give you a stomach ache. But it is good."
He put the basket by the door and transfigured, with his back to the boy, a cloth napkin into a warm blanket, and tucked that on top. He wanted to force the child to stay in the castle, but he knew that would never work with this one. If he was anything like the man Edwyn had come to know, there was no keeping him from something once his mind was made up. But he would help where he could. He turned back around. "Take your time. I won't get you in trouble."
