Megan was very good when it came to being optimistic. Draco had pointed it out just a few days prior and he had been right to. Megan had the unique ability of, more often than not, being able to look at the glass as half full. Right now she was having a difficult time doing that though. Draco was eleven years old. Ernie had over twenty years on her. Everyone had changed over night and she had absolutely no idea what to do about it. What was even worse though was Salazar. He wasn't gone, no, but he wasn't her Salazar anymore. Gods, but she had just seen him. Last night. Last night they had been happy and now... Now he was older and what if she didn't have that with him anymore? She already missed it and she hadn't even technically lost it. It was like a physical ache and nothing had even happened.
She was happy for him, of course. He seemed so much brighter in his writings now than he had before, but a lot could have happened in seven years. Was he married now? Did he have children? Would he even want her anymore? The thought turned her stomach and pricked her eyes, but she tried to be strong about it. It was just ... incredibly, incredibly difficult for her.
It didn't take long for Megan to get to the castle. She had wanted to run, really, and in fact she had been until she heard from Salazar. Than her walk had slowed and it remained that way until she was standing in front of his door. Pursing her lips together, she played with the zipper of her jacket, collecting herself and her emotions to her before hesitantly raising a hand to knock on the door. There was a horrible lump in her throat, heart pounding fiercely in her chest as she waited for him to answer.
