It was all Remus could ask for in the end. There had been no easy choices back then. He started fighting Voldemort and his followers years before he met Tonks and bore Teddy. Had he not been so attached to James' son, perhaps he could have sat it out, but, as it stood, it was like choosing between family members. Had Remus felt less culpable, perhaps he could have seen his fight as a gift to his son as well, a chance to grow up free from looming war, but he still only viewed it as leaving his baby boy behind.
"He is lucky." It was so difficult to discuss considering, lucky or not, Teddy, this Teddy, could not be with Victoire. Yet, Remus knew from the moment he learned Teddy married a Weasley that his son had been fortunate. There was no better family. "Actually, forget him." His grin always remained boyish no matter how many gray hairs he sprouted or how tired his transformations left him looking. "I am lucky for having such a beautiful and smart daughter-in-law." She was still that, regardless of any circumstance.
