Despite the tough, put together exterior Scorpius was maintaining, inside he was anything but. To lose his mother here in the village was taking a significant toll on the young man, whether he chose to show it or not. Scorpius had always been good at hiding his emotions though. It was why so many people thought him to be cold and unfeeling, when the truth of the matter was he just hid it well. Scorpius felt deeply about most things, but especially his family. Growing up, his parents had truly been his best friends. Even now, as an adult, he still held them in high esteem and turned to them above all others for advice. He was not used to being without them. Even here he had always had both Draco and Astoria. The world without her didn't make any sense. Oh, he knew she was well. He knew there was every chance in the world that she would return ... but she wasn't here now. She was gone and Scorpius missed her something terrible. It felt as though someone was reaching inside his chest, compressing his heart with every inhale and exhale he took. He hurt and yet he said nothing. He had yet to break down. He was holding it together and keeping a strong facade for the sake of his sister. And while he knew his father was strong, he didn't want to burden him with his own emotions since he knew Draco must be feeling her loss just as keenly.
After a long, stressful night, Scorpius returned home feeling far worse for the wear. It was still early when he crept in, circles under his eyes and his usual put together attire completely disheveled. His hair was tossled quite a bit and he wanted nothing more than to just curl up in a ball. He couldn't do that either though. There was Polaris to think of and he didn't want Lily to worry. He didn't want anyone to worry ... not about him. Holding in a sigh, he ascended the stairs to his room, pushing the door open only to step inside and sit heavily on the edge of his bed with his face buried in his hands. He could do this. He had to.
