Petunia certainly wasn't alone in that. Caradoc definitely wanted to do more than just hug her, but the same awkwardness that held him back (thank goodness) over the past few days, stopped him from acting of his own volition this time. Besides, this hug ... well, it was a good hug. He liked how she felt in his arms, with her face pressed to his shoulder. Maybe it was a lingering effect of the potion that had worked him over, but he couldn't resist turning his head to press a kiss to her temple.
The returned sentiment sent a wave of warmth washing over him, turning him from the inside out in the best possible way. It was always nice to be missed, but especially by Petunia. Meeting her gaze, he was about to offer her a smile before she started speaking once more and he was drawn in by her words instead. He wasn't sure what to say in response. The selfish part of him was mostly relieved that she wasn't exclusively into girls because, while nothing was wrong with that, he wasn't a girl and so his chances would drop from slim to none. "I know. I didn't like Emma either. Not like that." he insisted, "We were all put through the ringer. I'm just glad you came out alright." he paused here, reaching down to gently hold her chin between his thumb and forefinger while he held her gaze. "You are alright, right? I don't need to go beat anyone with a ... what was it you threatened James with? A stick? Should I go do that?" he asked with a reassuring smile.
