Who: Lucius Malfoy and Remus Lupin What: A potentially awkward meeting When: 7pm, Wednesday evening Where: Brews and Bottoms Rating: TBD Status: Incomplete
It was a highly unusual situation, but a necessary one. Draco was becoming far too friendly with that side, and without Narcissa to play mediator, Lucius was left to battle within unfamiliar territory. He longed for her more than ever tonight, she always assumed the role of family diplomat, leaving her husband free to sneer in the background and crack wise. A position he had come to adore. Lucius didn't like people; people were boring, people were tedious, people were tragically predictable. He had his little bubble and he preferred to stick to it, although unfortunately he was expected to venture outside now and then. Tonight was one such occasion.
Of course, he could charm the socks off high-end Ministry officials, the governors of Hogwarts, and the editors of the Prophet with ease. He was controlling, he was dominant, he knew how these people worked, he knew their weaknesses and he used them to his advantage. It was an amusing game; one he seldom lost. This, however, wasn't business, this was personal, and it made him sick to the stomach just thinking about it. It was an entirely different game altogether, and it came with a separate set of rules. Rules he was still learning to play by.
As the evening approached, Lucius made his way to the local pub, assuming his usual seat beneath the window. He deliberated over buying a bottle of red wine, though soon realised that that would only make the situation weirder - red wine being the go to drink for romantic evenings. Instead he settled on two pints of the village-brewed ale and sat back down, idly twiddling the nearest beer mat - anything to shift his focus from night ahead.
