Merton had begun to go a little stir crazy. He hadn't been lying-- it had been far too long since he'd practiced. Somewhere between getting used to the village, getting to know Minerva, and containing the massive swell of books to one corner of the house that had been designated the geek bit, Isabella (his cello, of course) had been left neglected in the corner next to his bed. This, obviously, was unacceptable. Though he was certain that Minerva wouldn't really care that he practiced in the house, he didn't want to disturb her studies. Plus, it was an absolutely beautifully sunny day. He carried his cello over the bridge to the community center. They had big windows, it was usually rather empty, and more than anything, it was a big open space. He was certain it had amazing acoustics. After he had tuned the strings and resined the bow, he began to play. Though at first he started with the songs from the Weird Sisters, it didn't last long. It was sad, really... none of them were here, and they didn't sound right without guitars and drums behind it. Instead, he decided on the classical music he'd played in his childhood. Edward Elgar was a good place to start. |
