The thought of losing contact with him terrified her. She almost thought as he grabbed his coat that he'd vanish and she'd wake up to a cold room, a pillow covered in tears and a deep desire to fall back to sleep. His words broke her heart just a little bit, knowing that he didn't know, he didn't... She managed a small smile. She knew he wouldn't want to leave her, or have her taken away to some strange place, it was so much more complicated.
As their hands easily laced together, she remembered the ease of how things used to be. Sure, things were never completely perfect, there were always ups and downs but holding his making her miss even more the ease and having a partner in her life.
She nodded as she lead him out of the cafe. Her grip on his hand was tighter than it normally would have been, or probably should have been. As the cold air hit her face she glanced up at him. "I don't know how to explain things."
