WHO: Teddy Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks WHERE: Parking in the Rear WHEN: Afternoon WHAT: Lunch and a first meeting (for Tonks, at least) RATING: Low/closed
After meeting with Remus the day before, Tonks felt somewhat calmer about this whole alternative world thing (if that was even what it was). But there was still one huge thread to unravel, or at least to follow through with - and that was her son.
She'd left him. He'd been eleven days old, still so tiny and dependent on her for so much, and she'd up and gone. To fight in a war beside her husband, yes, but it was still inexcusable, and even without having met Teddy, she felt an unbearable amount of guilt for it. She'd let her child grow up an orphan, and nothing, not even the battle, could've possibly been worth that.
Tonks stood in front of the entrance to the restaurant, feeling awkward and a bit lost. She had no idea what Teddy looked like. He must have known her, or at least a version of her, and she scanned the street searching for anyone who resembled her or Remus. Or who had odd coloured hair. What was she supposed to say? She felt like she ought to apologise, but at the same time, would it really mean anything coming from her at this age?
She bit her thumbnail and glanced around. It would be fine. Of course it would be. They'd gotten on just fine in journals, and this wouldn't be weird at all.
Except for the part where he was four years older than her, and up until yesterday, she'd had no idea he existed.
