The change in demeanor wasn't something that was easily missed. It was something that she let go as they continued to walk. She had gotten used to, over the past few years, she had gotten used to things not being said. It was something the couldn't blame him for, really. Letting him have a moment where his thoughts got the better of him without comment wasn't so bad now and again. "You're so wonderful! Hand delivered!" She laughed, focusing on his joke instead.
"That's brilliant, George! Can you ever forgive me for not noticing something you were hiding with your hat?" She said, nudging his side. "It looks brilliant, love. And of course I can tell. Well, I like to think I can tell you apart most of the time. After all, I have snogged at least one of you!" At least, she'd like to think it was only one of them. It would have been a cruel joke otherwise!
"If you're wondering, it's your smile. Yours is kinder. His is always more playful."
