Hephaestus Hephaestus 1. Jamie IMed me one afternoon out of the blue and said something to the effect of "ERYNN AND I FIGURED OUT WHO MCKIDD WOULD BE THE PERFECT PB FOR. HEPHAESTUS." (Until then we were thinking Thor for him.) I spazzed the fuck out since it really did seem spot-on, asked who was going to play him and she said "YOU!" Thus began my foray into the Greek pantheon. Which works out, because I'd always had a fondness for the poor bastard. 2. His capacity for love and willingness to forgive. In his position, I'd have never forgiven Zeus or Hera for what they did to him as a child, nonetheless Ares and Aphrodite. Despite his lesser qualities, a common thread I've seen in Heph's myth has been his love for his family. ...just combined with a god's fickle temper. >_> 3. The aforementioned temper. He's mellowed a lot throughout the years, but Greek + fire deity + perpetually scorned does not a calm reaction make. Eventually I'd like to push his buttons in the appropriate sequence (hur hur) and see what he's still capable of. After all, look at what he did to Harmonia for the audacity she had to be born. 4. Not as easy as Divorce, but pretty damn easy. His voice has evolved and become more stripped down in the past year. Heph's a man of few words, and conversation is as much about the senses as it is about vocalizing to him, so Internet chat is short and to the point. The word "I" has mostly disappeared from his 'net conversations. It's weird. 5. Heph's last narrative cinched his present-day mindset for me, and this one more his feeling toward the same-old familial nonsense. 6. Me personally, I'd like to work on his connections to the Greek dynamic -- the parents, the siblings, the wife and not-kids, further if people are game. Of course, Heph prefers to not associate with fellow Greeks, so his preference is to keep the hell away. It'd make me happy if he was approached about commissions. Not just bits and bobs, but real, actual work. And of course he's busy trying to shore up his own livelihood by transferring his myth to branded weaponry he'll be supplying to America's armed forces. It's not conventional worship, but desperate times, etc.
