Oh, man. I love this stuff so distinctly much. <3 Here goes, then:
Baldr 1) 1920's: Served as a judge in Illinois somewhere. 2) Victorian Era: Spent most of this time in the Midwest. He fought in the First Minnesota regiment at Gettysburg, and after the war he returned to Minnesota and set up an organization to provide aid to wounded veterans, widows and orphans. 3) Two months before they arrived in NYC: In New Orleans, working with an agency that provided aid to families made homeless by Katrina.
Inanna 1) 1920's: Chicago, working as a prostitute. 2) Victorian Era: Oh, man. She was in Virginia during the Civil War, hanging around battlefields because it was just that much fun, and after that she mostly hung around Ellis Island to welcome "her" people (Arab Christians who at least knew some of her names). Also, working as a prostitute - surprise! 3) Two months before they arrived in NYC: Las Vegas, of course, dancing in a nightclub and whoring on the side.
Castor and Pollux 1) 1920's: Working as ranch hands in Montana. When the Depression hit, they joined the TVA and helped build dams, because it was pretty awesome stuff. 2) Victorian Era: Working as guards for stagecoaches out west. In 1861, Castor joined the Confederate army while Pol, wanting no part in that war, headed to California. This lasted three weeks before Castor broke down and deserted the army to go find his brother. 3) Two months before they arrived in NYC: Surfing in and around LA. Dude.
Iktomi 1) 1920's: Hanging out in Michigan with Henry Ford. 2) Victorian Era: Still hanging out on the Great Plains with the Lakota/Dakota peoples for a lot of this time. He was with his people at the Battle of the Little Bighorn (1876) and the massacre at Wounded Knee (1890). After his people were herded onto reservations, he set out to see the world; I think he spent most of this time wandering around the East Coast, where all the fascinating new inventions were coming from. 3) Two months before they arrived in NYC: Bothering NASA scientists in Virginia.
Joy 1) 1920's: In Harlem, encouraging and enjoying the flourishing of African-American arts and culture. 2) Victorian Era (1837 - 1901): In the South for much of this time, comforting her people and their descendants during their enslavement. She hung around for Reconstruction, but by the end of the period she had made her way north and west along with her people. She was in Iowa around the turn of the century. 3) Two months before they arrived in NYC: New Orleans, encouraging the regrowth of the vibrant arts there.
Ether 1) 1920's: Experiencing a burst of power during Prohibition -- she was living in Boston during this time, still dabbling in medical practice but mostly just hanging out and enjoying her return to popularity as a recreational drug for those who couldn't get alcohol. 2) Victorian Era: At the height of her power, working in East Coast hospitals and with private doctors as a nurse or doctor's assistant. She was also active in the Temperance movements during this time and promoting (surprise!) ether-drinking as a substitute for alcohol. 3) Two months before they arrived in NYC: Patient in the psychiatric ward of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
