"And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more; Ezekiel 34:29. The Lord said unto me, 'I will take my rest and I will consider in my dwelling place like a clear heat upon herbs.'; Isaiah 18:4-5." Tommy rattled off the passages from memory; they, and some of the others that obliquely referenced marijuana, were the only passages from the Bible that he knew or, really, cared about. "Of course, those passages aren't necessarily about cannabis, but I agree with you. If ones believes in God, one should also believe that He put all plants on this earth for us to utilize them for all the benefits they carry." Tommy smiled widely at Paul. "And, no, a vote for the Marijuana Party is definitely not a throw-away vote, whenever they do manage to get on the ballot."
Tommy grinned, unable to stop himself from leaning in and whispering, making sure his voice was quiet enough so that Paul wouldn't hear him. "Because you know that, if you had and you told me... well, I'd probably be on my knees before you finished your sentence." Tommy turned away, flushing, and coughed to cover up his rather brave words, his voice raising to a pitch that Paul could hear. "I, uh, think I'm a lightweight when it comes to alcohol."
Thinking about what Paul said, Tommy nodded slowly. "It's still... being up in front of a crowd of people, though, and knowing that all of their attention is focused on you. I mean, I have no experience with either situation but I think that just a little bit of it would translate to some degree, you know?" Tommy leaned his head against Bret's shoulder, his eyes still focused on Paul. "Spanish is actually the one I think I'll learn first. I can have a rudimentary conversation and, of course, swear up a storm, but I want to become fluent over the next few years. And the GSA sounds like it could be fun! Maybe you could get some more volunteers for the center that way! Just, you know, no one who's good at math, I like being indispensable."
