WHO: Natalie & The Red Baron
WHEN: Friday afternoon
WHERE: Conrad's apartment
WHAT: Pretendy married times!
When Natalie showed up at Conrad's door it was with a huge box in her arms that she could barely see over. As soon as he opened the door she was motoring on without even letting him say hello. "Oh god, okay, so the taxi on the way here was crazy and he had this weird little Satan-thing hanging from the mirror and I'm pretty sure he was allergic to road rules, and when I said there was clothes in the box he kept asking me if I had panties in there and I was all Jesus Christ, mate, because who the hell asks that? I swear to god (or gods, I guess) that the cabbies of this city and getting more and more disturbing, or maybe I'm just getting older and thus less able to deal with their perverted wankery. But I just told him in the end that actually, no, I never wear panties which was a huge mistake in hindsight but he stopped talking to me at least, even if it was because he'd gone to a happy place."
While speaking she'd come in and put the box down on the coffee table in the living room and was now pulling her dark locks up into a hairband to get them out of the way. She smiled, breathlessly, at her friend now that she felt she had a moment to pause. "So, hi!"
She wasn't yet dressed for the evening - there was a dress in the box, as her jeans and Def Leppard t-shirt would never do for tonight. But she was already wearing the ring Conrad had given her, along with a gold band she'd found in her jewelry box that would be the wedding band. All she knew was that tonight she was going to show those stuck-up high school girls. She was going to prove that despite their mean-spirited teenage bitchiness that she had made something of her life. Which meant, very importantly, being married to an attractive and successful man so they would be stupidly jealous and Natalie would be able to lord it over them forever, even if it was only on Facebook she had to do the lording. Lording it over people from high school that you hated was the best thing in the world, after all.
