<3 <3 Oh these two
Nephthys felt only a moment of pain when her husband surfaced. Her own eyes were locked on his as he spoke and then, just once, she nodded. She was glad it was her as well. It seemed only right. She couldn't hold back, couldn't stop to tell him that she loved him, even though it was the only words that waited behind her lips. She hoped he knew, hoped he understood she did this for him as much as the rest of them.
And then with one last burst of strength she drove the blade through her husband's neck, tendons and muscles giving way in a gush of blood, spine snapping through after another moment and leaving the sword embedded in the wall.
The head fell free and the body of Nephthys' beloved dropped slowly to the carpet. It was the head she grabbed by the hair, not even looking at it. (She couldn't yet. She couldn't yet think because she wasn't finished here.)
She was drenched in blood, most of it Set's, and from the freezer - just as Set had told her - she took the second head, the one that was far further along in its decomposition and defiled in every way their brother could manage.
Into the bag it went as well - Nephthys felt only a passing uneasiness at putting them together.
She hoisted the bag over her shoulder and made for the door but as soon as she pulled it open, the mortal girl who'd been told to run threw herself at her with a scream, fingernails like claws and her shrieks unintelligible.
"I have no time," Nephthys snapped and then simply knocked the girl unconscious, picking her up, almost tenderly. Nephthys didn't need her to go running back to Apep to tell him what had happened here. She hadn't had time for the girl, so when security showed up she had no time for that either.
The spell she used took the last of her strength and made the girl in her arms so much heavier. She whispered the words in the ancient tongue, letting the corridor of the hotel throw itself into a sandstorm that would only last long enough for her to run away.
