The sound of her voice - as sweet and warm as Thaumas remembered it - gave him proof that this young woman was indeed his daughter and when Iris revealed her smiling face, all doubts flew out of the window. He stared at his daughter's face, an expression of surprise and amazement on his own. One which only his girls could put there.
"Iris," he reiterated softly, brushing a strand of gold out of the way and cupped her face in his palm. His little rainbow hadn't changed at all, he noticed with relief. Same twinkling eyes, same bright smile - adorable, beautiful and loveable. And she was here right in front of him.
"I've missed you too, my lovely rainbow girl!" Wrapping his arms around her waist, Thaumas lifted Iris off her feet and laughed. "I had no idea you were around. I'd hoped, of course, but I didn't know. If I had, I would have come looking for you." Now it was him who didn't want to let go. However, it would be awkward to remain here on the street hugging forever, so he gave her a last squeeze before he set her down again.
The sea god's smile matched Iris' in brightness and happiness, and it grew impossibly brighter when he leant in and brushed a kiss against her forehead. "It's been so long and you haven't changed at all."
