When he said her name she finally felt as though she might be able to trust her voice. She laughed again, shakily, in relief and delight.
“I’ll make you a sandwich and a coffee, but I don’t know if you’ll want to wait until I have this out of my system.” Always being naturally loving and affectionate to those she held dear, Iris felt as though she couldn’t possibly get enough of her father’s company, certainly not anytime soon. She’d have to let him go, certainly, and likely soon……but she didn’t want to. If it hadn’t been for wanting to get a good look at him, and letting him actually see her face, it was likely she wouldn’t have let go for even longer.
She did want to see him, though, his eyes and his expression and everything she remembered of him. Reluctantly, she loosened her hold and moved back enough to look up, smiling, into his face.
“I’ve missed you. I’d hoped to see you again, and here you are……I’m so, so glad. I missed you.”
