That smile morphed into a smirk as he read over her words, his fingers lightly touching the edges of the paper. It was vaguely amusing, at least for now, that all she could do was play the parrot in verbal conversation. Unfortunately, in dire situations, it would probably prove to be annoying if all one got in return were repeated segments of their own phrases. But Echo could write, as he noted weeks ago, so even if things got lost in translation, at least they could be saved by a pen and paper.
"That's good." Pan paused for a split second, thinking of something he could say that she could repeat back to him with ease. In retrospect, it would probably prove to be more difficult than speaking with a normal person, but neither of them were really normal. And who was normal, anyway? Normality was overrated. He realized he would have to dip into his reserves of patience, which were pretty shallow to begin with, as he wasn't the type to keep his temper very easily. But he liked Echo, he did, so freaking her out with a temper tantrum of his own would be counter-productive. Patience it was, then. Or what little he had of it.
"I'm glad," he finished, honestly.
