Who: Horror... kind of (dark_soul), Archie (theteninone) & Corvina (blood_bred); all other carnies are welcome to join in.
What: The two worst parents in the world come home. Corvina reacts to Gambling's work on Horror. Someone's gonna have to pin her down.
When: Backdated to late Wednesday afternoon, 04/28.
Where: Midway Plaisance's campgrounds in Reno, Nevada.
Warnings: Carnies freaking the hell out.
"All in all, old man, I'd wager that's one of your finest performances to date."
Archie's voice resonated with good cheer as it carried above Nevada's warm winds. He'd conned a valet out of a particularly fine convertible before their sudden departure from Sin City, and with Horror's hair unbound so prettily, the Carnival God couldn't resist keeping the top down.
"Mum may be the word, my boon companion, but it'd do this showman's heart some good if you shared the play-by-play." Glancing away from the road, Archie shot his passenger a conspiratorial wink. "You know how those gory details get the fires roaring."
Silence. Archie didn't take it personally.
"Play coy all you want! I'll have you know that I'm famous for my information extraction techniques. Soon as we get back to camp, we'll take a spin 'round the blade box and see if you can continue resisting my insidious ways. And none of that playing coy, neither! I know your type, old man. All fluttering eyelashes and rustling petticoats."
Icy laughter rang out across the desert, though it was hard to say whether it originated with Horror or was all in Archie's imagination. It hardly mattered; his own tenor followed, full of high delight.
"You think so?" he asked after quiet settled back in for a mile or two. "Hell on a harp, we've got enough to worry about with the girl and her tender heart. If young Stanley tried to up and take the show during our holiday, he's in for a world of hurt. Maybe it's finally time to retire him."
As if on cue, the horizon produced an outline of the ferris wheel Colossus. A flash of irritation flitted across Archie's face, his lips thinning in disapproval at how subdued the show felt even from afar.
"Don't try and talk me out of this one, Cold. Both the boys are on the grounds and they damn well better be earning the nut. Can't a man take some personal time without his hard work getting undone? No, don't answer that. We'll say hello to your girl, then I'm putting my foot down and the fear of God into the lot of 'em."
