Who: The Sphinx and Open
What: She's had her fill, so she's wandering the streets
Where: Random NY Street
When: Wednesday night
Warnings: mentions of death, mentions of devouring dead people, The Sphinx being creepy, TBD?
The Sphinx didn't like the box with the non mirror. It had not tasted pleasant when her question had been answered incorrectly and she still did not know how to feel when others answered it correctly. The Phoenix was an exception. The bird was like her, so simply didn't count. But the strangers...One had amused her, the other had not.
She was still conflicted. She didn't feel inclined to throw herself off a cliff. She'd found her way back up from that little trip, and had to assume her job wasn't done. But she wasn't happy either. Life was complicated enough, and thinking like man wouldn't help. She would take the knowledge that the last one who'd answered her riddle had paid a far higher toll then be destroyed by her. Perhaps the same would happen to these people.
With a shrug and a shake of her head she set it out of her mind. The youth with the box and not mirror had filled her stomach, and she would find a place to rest until the next one came along. Blood stained her lips still but she paid no mind. In her tattered clothing, with her hair wild and bare feet she was noticed, and avoided but she barely paid mind.
This city had no gate, which made it hard for her to find places to sit. So she'd carved herself out a bit of territory. She'd marked it, found the alleys comfortable to rest in. Sometimes she was bothered by those who saw the human skin as invitation. She asked them a riddle, and often found herself with a snack. She didn't wonder if she was attracting attention. She assumed her gods had put her here for a reason. The mortals dressed differently, and times where different but she assumed she was once more a fitting punishment. The only thing she worried about was if she was doing her task correctly. She wasn't her former self anymore, and no longer able to cut off a cities traffic.
Some mortals looked at her as she wandered along the street, wondering what fate must have befallen her. Some ignored her. The Sphinx wasn't too bothered by their looks. She never saw a reason to try and fit into society.
