The day had come and gone with little adventure save a broken ulna, one man's case of mild indigestion, and a deep scratch across a man's shoulder requiring a grand total of 28 stitches to close. Miraculously, there hadn't been a single trauma, a hint at an invaisive procedure, or any sort of moment where chance could have wisked his patients souls from their bodies. While this filled him with a certain amout of pleasure, it left the angel wanting. It's not that he was after a thrill or an accomplishment - he was looking to be of use.
So, there he was, at the end of his shift. He had ritually changed from hospital attire into his jeans and sweater and tugged on his jacket to leave. He left his pleasantries behind to those he passed, with a smile, of course; but, he was not nearly about to stay. Though, his mind never really seemed to leave the hospital. He'd heard so many people remark that the place was really somewhere people went to die; well, on Raphael's watch it was a place where people went to get better.
Raphael's lips turned into a thoughtful smile as he slipped through the sliding doors and heard his shoes trounce on the metal stripped, no slip flooring. It was an odd twang, and it always caught his attention. Looking up he saw his earlier patient, the man with the stitches, akwardly holding a lighter in his left hand trying to ignite the cigarette pursed between his lips. Raphael simply shook his head, unwilling to enable the man's addiction. Aside from that, the man had torn his shoulder open trying to climb through the broken window of an apartment he was breaking into, the glass jagged and sharp ripped easily through the man's T-shirt. The story the patient had told, something about getting it caught on a sharp piece of metal on a car he was remodelling a far cry.
With a sigh he continued out onto the curb looking left and right, trying to decide which way he ought to head home.
