Who: Saints Sebastian and George
What: Dinner and Catching Up
When: Thursday Evening
Where: A tiny Italian place God-knows-where, near a veteran's hospital in NYC.
Warning: Allusions to variously saintly afflictions.
After all this time in New York City, waiting for some sign that he was in the right place and that things were going the way He wanted them to go, Sebastian finally had what he'd been praying for. George was here. He was Sebastian's best friend; they had been through the Crusades, the Black Plague and the Renaissance together and they knew one another better than anyone else knew either of them. They were only two of many soldier-saints, but they had always been, somehow, together. And it had been so long since Sebastian had seen him for long and so many things had happened...
He dressed, changed his bandages so they were all stark white and clean, and bundled up to head out into the cold. It wasn't so bad, the cold, that was. He'd gone through far worse in days where heat was not so good and technology had not found ways to insulate clothing like it was now. But he still walked quickly down to the restaurant, getting there a few minutes early and asking for a table for two somewhere in the back as he peeled off his scarf and coat.
