It was far beyond the point of irony to call the oncoming conflict to have "good timing".
Just days before the the official notice, Zephyrus had considered in leaving the city. The question of whether or not to notify his wife of the decision had hung about his head heavily, keeping him rooted in the City when his mind was already thinking about warmer places, larger spaces - everything that New York could not offer. There was Chicago again, and there was the business that could run itself smoothly, now that he had finally found the capable mortals of doing so.
But it was old habits that died hard and despite constantly reminding himself of the consequences that had happened last time when he had left without so much as a whispered "good-bye", Zephyrus still had found himself more and more not at home.
So it was the news of this conflict that brought him home early one night, his mind now muddled with thoughts of loyalty, family, and decisions that have not been thought of since thousands and thousands of years ago, when he had been notably fickle and less caring. When there was no wife to speak of, nevermind the messenger of Zeus, herself, to consider.
His brother's chilly breath pushed Zephyrus quickly into the house. Glancing at the clock that hung in the foyer, it seemed that he was two hours ahead of when he'd usually be home, with a faint smell of alcohol on his self and the look of someone distant even if they were physically here.
Zephyrus haphazardly tossed his jacket onto the couch as he made his way to the bathroom, commencing the usual ritual of coming home and cleaning up - something that a good husband should have done before even stepping over the threshold.
But the point was - Zephyrus was hardly a good husband.
