Another random encounter... there had been many of those during the past month. People he met on his trips across the country had struck up random conversations, telling him all about their lives, their troubles, their fears and doubts and Anton had listened without judging.
Sometimes it was easier to talk to strangers who didn't know anything about you and Humility worked better when he didn't know anything about the people who needed his help.
He glanced at his flight tickets and rescheduled the evening appointment. The young screenwriter could wait unlike the man he'd talked to on the blog. His boss wouldn't like it but Anton didn't care because he felt that this guy shouldn't be alone right now.
When he stepped into the Coffee Bean, he felt a gentle pull and approached Temperance. The face looked familiar but so had all the faces of the other people. The impulse to hug him was new, though. Maybe they had met before.
"Hello," Anton said, smiling, as he took off his scarf and jacket and hung them over the back of his chair. Humility seemed unusually relaxed, almost happy as if the clock had been turned back for him and returned him to the state he'd been in when he first came into the world.
"Hope you haven't been waiting too long?"
