The impact of her body against his, timed with the shot only meant one thing, and it was enough to have Karl whipping his head around, only to have to catch his partner's falling body against his. She wasn't heavy, so it didn't catch him off balance, but nevertheless it was enough to make him stumble.
When he could've taken down the man in one go, the thug had quickly assessed the situation and taken aim again as Karl tried to cushion Alyssa's fall with his body. The heavy impact of the bullet driving into Karl's neck made the god twist his head sideways in an unnatural angle, making him see stars for a moment, depriving him the ability to breathe. But the moment was quickly passed as he started to see red, his rage even furthered with the additional shot.
There was no mass amount of blood, the bullet itself being rejected all too quickly by his body and pushed out of the wound - all which made the thug pause for a moment, his face paling at what he was witnessing. The distraction was just enough time for Karl to get back on his feet and grab the thug's own gun out of his holster.
All in total there were eight clean shots that rang through the air as Karl pulled the trigger rapidly, all of the bullets going clean into the thug's forehead, the exit wounds not pretty as what was left of him splattered against the wall behind him. The face was unrecognizable, but Karl had no mercy for this man, his shots still ringing in the air when the mortal's face was ripped apart by bullets. He would've finished the job by shooting the rest of the dead man until he was a bloodied unrecognizable carcass, but his partner's dead weight on the floor made him drop the gun and to his knees again.
Karl gritted his teeth as he cursed inwardly at how once more Alyssa had so easily put her life on the line like that. His hands would be shaking in rage if he didn't see the blood pooling out of her shoulder. His hands quickly covered the wound and placed pressure into it.
"Goddamit, Alyssa! Stay with me, can you hear me?" His eyes desperately sought for any sign of pain, unconsciousness, anything that would show that she would pull through.
