Who: Hephaestus (hammer_down) and Allegra (h8texpectations)
What: Allegra's come home for a visit. And probably the inevitable argument.
When: Backdated to last Friday.
Where: Heph's place in Pennsylvania.
Warnings: Meh.
Bethlehem always knew when Mr. Pyrrhus's girl was visiting, because there would be a spate of small fires, or floods, or an influx of locusts. Having Allegra in town was a lot like God raining down curses, except the locals were fairly confident God's curses did not involve fireworks or the release of all pet store ferrets.
Hephaestus let her be, let her do whatever it was that she did. Like always, he kept to the forge more often than not -- since Zeus sent Iris-his-messenger to deliver instructions, he was unable to shake a certain piece from mind and spent hours upon hours working with marble and gold and bronze. Occasionally the celestial smith stopped to poke his head outside.
Sometimes Allegra was on the roof (she'd learned early that was the best of all possible escape situations when it came to Hephaestus). Sometimes he caught a flash of bright blonde, or the barest hint of a jacket passing by. Now and again he felt eyes on him.
He said nothing the whole way through. The only time he acknowledged that there might be someone else in the house was when he paused just long enough to go marketing and replenish the cracker supply, or intentionally burn a batch of tater tots.
Outside of that, the fires in the forge burned on. The ever-present pickax was back above the doorframe, and Hephaestus himself waited with a patience only the immortal could ever truly achieve. Zoe would come and see him in her own time.
And if she didn't, he would track her down and drag her back kicking and screaming. It was what they did.
