His eyes had fallen shut in favor of the darkness, which was safe to perceive, since her hand was still in his. As long as he could feel her there and next to him, he was content in closing his eyes for a bit, to rest. To try and forget what she had said a few of minutes ago and try to remember what they had both said beyond that.
The soft murmuring besides Greed gently woke him up to consciousness again, if only enough to be aware of what she was saying. To be fully aware that the instinctive answer he had would have been that she couldn't give him what he wanted anyways. He only wish he could be like Gluttony, satisfied by food or anything else that would be distracting.
But he was still the selfish bastard. Even more laughable, a caring selfish bastard.
"I have what I need right here," he quietly lied, smooth as silk, calm as a storm, turning his head and giving her a kiss, that evidence she needed to sooth this new conscience she had. Or was it the love she had for him?
Closing his eyes again, sliding an arm over her waist, Greed stopped asking himself the questions that he wasn't here to find answers to. He stopped himself from trying to avoid touching her belly, to stop thinking about now what was inside of it.
Because at least for now, she looked normal. Beautiful. Lust.
And there was any other time to start being grateful for the way things were, even in this snapshot moment - now, was the time to start.
