Mark's statement of the facts sounded like all the more reason to spend more time together, not apart, and despite all his fine words about having 'changed' how much could that possibly be the case? He'd enjoyed her company back then and there must have still been some part of him that wanted her around. Surely he could have protected his assistant from her and not come to lunch, right? Ate thought that all sounded very reasonable.
"So are you the only one of us that's changed then?" Ate asked, leaning across the table after taking a drink. She raised an eyebrow after her question. "Maybe we've both changed in perfect still meshy ways." Not that Ate had really changed much at all, but she could use this tactic if she had to. "Besides, I wasn't always about destruction." Ate did have other interests, after all, not all of them having to do with bloodshed. They could do those sorts of things together. They could shop!
