Who: Mark and Ate
What: Meeting of the exes
When: Tuesday afternoon
Where: Joe Allen
Warning: TBD
Like most Americans, Mark had friends in his office who were divorced from their first, second, and even third wives. He'd heard the stories chronically childish actions on both sides and the long, drawn out, dramatic sagas of custody and alimony battles. Mark had never had to deal with a clinging ex-wife, and for that he'd always been thankful. His one ex-wife seemed to have forgotten about him over the years and she'd never turned up wanting or demanding anything. Until now, of course. Mark didn't know what had spurred her sudden interest in him once again (aside from his anger over Joe Wilson), but it was there and that never ended well. They'd met while he was having a man killed. It wasn't exactly the basis for the most healthy of relationships.
Mark was hesitant when he walked into Joe Allen that afternoon. He wasn't scared of Ate herself –he was, after all, one of the more powerful deities in America—but of her influence and what might come out of it. The last thing he needed was Senator Wilson to be found dead and the blood on his hands. But Mark knew he'd calmed down somewhat, and he'd tried making peace the day before, inviting his brother to lunch with the president. He felt like he could have this meeting without too much violence coming out of it. Hopefully.
"Vodka. Straight." Mark ordered from the bartender who'd known him for years now. At his confused look (likely wondering why he wasn't ordering his usual whiskey), Mark simply said. "I'm meeting my ex-wife." That seemed to be enough of an explanation for the other man who simply nodded understandingly and placed the requested drink down on the counter. "On the house, Mr. Harden."
Mark thanked him and took the drink to a secluded table in the back. He started scanning the door, waiting for Ate to arrive.
