Who: Orpheus and Asterion
What: People Watching
Where: Wyoming, a diner
When: Morning
Warnings: TBA
Central Wyoming was beautiful. Orpheus had a vague notion that he remembered that, he'd floated through here before, more than once, on his way to nowhere as he travelled the country. Wide open spaces like Montana and Wyoming were appealing - open and empty and easy to be lost in. He'd never had someone with him, though, seeing it through their eyes, and somehow the wide expanse of the state as they headed aimlessly west through it was different, this time through.
They'd taken small state highways and forgotten roads to get here - stopping to sleep or kiss or make art or make love when they felt like it. And even though he knew it wasn't a good idea, leaving the city really had felt to Orpheus like he'd left behind the darkness that had started to settle around them. He felt easier, here. Even easier when he thought of that night, and of the monster lurking under his lover's skin. Those things were of the city, not of this open, endless sky.
It was late morning and on their way westward through the state, toward the mountains, Orpheus stopped along a roadside dinner in a poor, dusty little working town, and in the parking lot he shook Asterion awake with a grin. "Hungry?"
