If to distant lands I scatter, if I sail to farthest seas, would you find and firm and gather?
Who: Ares (ares_godofwar) [Narrative]
What: He thinks about things after commenting with Deimos.
Where: On the bed, clinging to the cushion.
When: Eaaaaarly Sunday morning, when the sky's still dark.
Warnings: Emo? None.
He felt bad.
It had been months since Deimos plunged into his current state and Ares had done nothing to help him, even though he had been the one who caused it. Ignoring the problem wasn't going to make it go away and killing his son was not an option, but Ares didn't really want his problem to become anyone else's. Even though it ended up being something Phobos had to constantly deal with, and he... it wasn't responsible of a father to do that.
When everything went up in flames, this was not what he wanted to happen. He never wanted to hurt Deimos, he never wanted to hurt Phobos, he never wanted to hurt Aphrodite - he never even wanted to hurt Eris; he was just angry at her.
But that was the only thing he was good for. Probably the only thing he was born to do. Hurting everyone around him.
It was his fault that Deimos couldn't remember her, and he felt wounded - she didn't deserve it, after all that she had done for their kids. They had their fights and they had plenty of their share of going after someone else, but she was his mother all the same and it just didn't feel right that she had to suffer for something he had done.
And for Deimos to not be able to remember her at all...
He hadn't brought it up around her, yet. He still didn't want Zeus to interfere with their family but he knew that he couldn't help them the way Zeus could. He had already done enough damage and, if he could help it, he didn't want to tear down the few walls and pillars left standing.
Maybe he would go to New Orleans and see the twins after all, once he had ascertained that Hephaestus was no longer there. They deserved so much more. They deserved someone better.
He wished he was the one they had forgotten about.
He wished the world had forgotten him.
Everyone would be safe.
Then he wouldn't have to live with himself for the rest of eternity.
