She pushed herself out of the doorway and padded across to the end of the round nest-like bed. She crawled over him, on top of the covers instead of underneath, to keep them between his body and her own, even as her knees rested on either side of his hips and she sat up.
He seemed so unhappy that he couldn’t join her on her weird sleeping schedule – it had been easier when he was an EMT, and worked wonky hours. Probably tougher on him, in the end, but it seemed to match up with her sleeping/working/down time patterns a lot better.
“What.” She announces, rather than asks. “You know, we haven’t been together that long but I’m pretty sure I know your surprises.. Unless you’re about to tell me you used to be a woman, which isn’t that much of a shock as if you were human, because you know.. at least.. I can..” She trails off and beams, before leaning down to press a little nibbling kiss to the corner of his mouth.
