Mark's eyes went back and forth between his computer screen and the ticker on the bottom of the television in his office. He should have been watching his own channel, maybe, but he was paying more attention to the Sunday morning pundit shows. It was rare that he wasn't on one of them, but he honestly hadn't felt like flying down to DC this week with the president out of the country and once he'd arranged for a meeting with Media it had been entirely out of the question.
The meeting had been hinged on the condition that North Korea keep their missiles on the ground in their silos. They hadn't, but upon with Jamie promising to deliver reports and word of what had been said at the UN meetings Mark knew there wasn't much else he could do. He'd already spoken with Secretary Clinton on the phone and was waiting for a few calls back. The only other thing he could do was wait for the GOP spin. Hell, he was surprised it had taken this long. He'd even turned to FOX news for a few moments, looking for anything on how it was 'obvious' that this proved that Obama couldn't handle foreign policy. Nothing yet (and he couldn't stomack FAUX news for long) but he knew it was just the calm before the storm.
His phone ringing pulled his eyes away from both screens and he reached over to grab it. Media was waiting outside. "Sure, send her in. And can we have some coffee? Bring the Advil with it. Thanks, Mia." Mark laid the phone back on the cradle and squeezed his eyes shut for a moment. It was going to be a long week.
