As a present to ourselves, FFQ has taken on a new slave Mod. Her name is tsu she's very hard working and adorable, but she tends to bite, so don't annoy her. From now on, ffq_mod might be either velvet_mace or tsu… you never know… Anyway, welcome her, or else. ^___^
Right now she we are working to whip the Memories into shape. Soon you will be able to go to memories, click on a name and find all the fics and art with a certain character in it. This is especially useful if you have a hankering for someone who hasn't had a month dedicated to him/her yet.
Okay, that's the good news now for the bad news:
It's come to our attention that some members might be a wee bit unclear on the concept of a claimed pairing. So I have put together a bit of a tutorial with dirty pictures to demonstrate.
Lately people have been really stretching the idea of a claimed pairing to the breaking point. Your claimed pairing has to be the primary pairing of the fic/art. Simply put, if a casual viewer/reader can't immediately tell who your claimed pairing is – then it doesn't work for this community.
This said, under limited circumstances a third (or even fourth) person is allowed, but only as a Pairing + person rather than a threesome.
Artists: So what is the difference between a Pairing + a person and a threesome? Let's see:
Example (not actually an FFQ entry but let's pretend it is):
Artist tomoe_daeva
Mmm, beautiful and porny – but who is the claimed pairing? Envy x Dante? Dante x Greed? We don't know, they are both on equal footing here. This is a threesome not a pairing + person – and not allowed.
Example 2 (also not a FFQ entry but we are pretending):

This is a nice example of a pairing + another, and is totally fine for FFQ purposes – so long as the pairing is Roy x Havoc. If the claimed pairing is Roy/Archer or Havoc/Archer, then this is a cheat. The challenge was for Archer to get some, not to be pushed off onto the sidelines while you porn some other pairing. If you claimed Archer/Roy -- then you need to give us something recognizable as Archer/Roy.
FIC WRITERS: It's not just art that has been short changing the claimed pairing. A number of fics over the months have been too. If you give this third person the same amount of attention (or in some cases more) than one of the claimed characters, then you are really letting down your readers who clicked on the link hoping to see the pairing you promised. A good rule of thumb is to count up how many times you say this third persons name -- if it is more than one of your claimed characters, then you need to refocus the fic. The claimed pairing needs to be obvious.
And one last note for both writers and artists (but mostly artists)-- Porn kind of implies something sexual going on.
This picture isn't porn. It's Roy and Al from the cover of a G rated doujin. Just having the two people in the fic/art isn't enough. Give us reason to suspect they aren't just friends in bathing suits.
When you claim a pairing, remember, you are taking that pairing away from anyone else who might want to claim it, so it is simply not fair if you bait and switch -- and give us some other pairing, or no pairing at all.
