The time back home had been good for Remus. His family was whole again. It had taken time, of course, but that was what mattered in the end. It was a surprise, really, to return back to the life of the compound. Well, the remnants of it, whatever it was that this was now. He was half convinced it was still all an experiment, to test the notions of free will, and record the results. Interesting, that, as he had desired never to go home in his elder age while his younger self wanted nothing more. His desires weren't respected, really, by the pull of the home base.
Still, back home, he had learned a trick or two. Lily was who taught him this one, a trick he never thought possible, but still there. And he wanted to give Sirius a good run for his money, something of which he wouldn't have been able to do on his human legs. With his human mind in his shifted body, he ran through the woods, determined to make it a long stretch for Padfoot. It really need not be easy for him.
Inside the brush, he fell back on his back when Padfoot leaped on top him, small in comparison but still enough to push him down. If he would have been human he would have laughed. Still, for a brief moment, he let his shifted form nuzzle its head against the fur of Padfoot, who always made Moony feel complete on the nights of the full back before he had control.
