Who: Sirius and RemusKnap
What: Saying hello
When: Sunday evening
Where: Woods
Warnings: None?

Sirius was Padfoot within an instant. He exploded out onto the street, nose to the ground as he began sorting out Remus' scent. It was difficult -- what with the fact that there were about 50 Remuses now here. But there was only one Remus who was his, and though it took a few seconds, he finally managed to pick up a distinct scent. He raced along the ground, tail wagging all the while. He had only gone a short distance though, when something strange happened -- it changed from Remus to Moony.

Padfoot's tail began to wag even faster even as the still human-part of his brain protested that that was impossible and had to be part of Remus' trick. But Padfoot rushed headfirst into the wooded area at the outskirts of town. He dashed in between trees, kicking up leaves as he went. Only every now and then did he press his nose to the ground, making sure he was following Moony's tracks. The scent of the wolf was growing stronger. Padfoot let out a bark of warning.

After that, he slowed a bit though, sensing he had to be close. Turning about in the clearing he was in, Padfoot went low to the ground, tail still wagging too enthusiastically. Jumping into a nearby bush, he collided with a solid mass of fur. Barking happily, Padfoot sunk his teeth into the scruff of Moony's neck.

The time back home had been good for Remus. His family was whole again. It had taken time, of course, but that was what mattered in the end. It was a surprise, really, to return back to the life of the compound. Well, the remnants of it, whatever it was that this was now. He was half convinced it was still all an experiment, to test the notions of free will, and record the results. Interesting, that, as he had desired never to go home in his elder age while his younger self wanted nothing more. His desires weren't respected, really, by the pull of the home base.

Still, back home, he had learned a trick or two. Lily was who taught him this one, a trick he never thought possible, but still there. And he wanted to give Sirius a good run for his money, something of which he wouldn't have been able to do on his human legs. With his human mind in his shifted body, he ran through the woods, determined to make it a long stretch for Padfoot. It really need not be easy for him.

Inside the brush, he fell back on his back when Padfoot leaped on top him, small in comparison but still enough to push him down. If he would have been human he would have laughed. Still, for a brief moment, he let his shifted form nuzzle its head against the fur of Padfoot, who always made Moony feel complete on the nights of the full back before he had control.

Padfoot ran his tongue twice in broad strokes over Moony's muzzle, the action conveying far more than Sirius thought his words ever could. It was ridiculous to have Remus back here. He had given him up, deciding he would be okay without Remus or James. He'd been ready to mourn -- and then, here Remus was again. Older, yes, but he was still Sirius' Remus and that was all that really mattered. It was overwhelming in a way.

Sirius shifted back into himself, figuring that he had to be safe even if Remus was still Moony. He wrapped his arms tightly around the other, smiling broadly.

"Hey you," he said out loud.

He didn't remain in his shifted form for long once Sirius shifted back, merely seconds really, and then he was lying against the grass with Sirius on top of him. He was full of beaming smiles though and it was just a second before his arms wrapped right back around Sirius, pulling him close to him, with a shift in his expression to a devious one. On quick roll and now he was looking down upon his Sirius.

He placed his arms on either side of Sirius, grinning, as his hair hung down in his eyes a bit, before he gave a bit of a nod to go along with his words. "Hey, you."

Sirius grinned back up at Remus when he abruptly found himself on his back on the forest floor. He shifted a bit, because this was a more familiar game -- something that harkened more cleanly back to their days at Hogwarts, and Sirius was hardly about to let Remus win.

"What are you doing, old man?" Sirius teased, pushing up at Remus' shoulder with one hand before hooking a knee around Remus' to send them toppling once more across the forest floor.

It was so much better this time. And that was a relief. It had been hard when he had first entered the compound, because he'd been so angry, held so much rage and hatred. And then Remus had left, and Sirius had gotten along with the younger version of him, but there had been a lot to explain, a gap left between them where they weren't certain of who they were versus what they would be. But this Moony -- he already knew him. Already knew every fucked up little nuance of his brain, and there was no need to go through the worrying and explaining. They could get back to just being them.

"Now, now, I'm not old, I'm matured," he corrected with a cackle of a laugh, unable to prevent Sirius from sending them back against the brush. It was a little odd to see Sirius so young but the memories of how the compound worked, and of it all, came quick enough back to Remus. He was able to accept it. He had a dozen other thoughts in his head but the first was Sirius. He wanted to ensure that the man was alright and that they weren't going to be harmed by his leaving.

Honestly, it felt as though they were better now. He was nearly on the same page, even if he was far younger than he had been back home when he reached it.

He stretched out now that he was back against the ground, arm moving behind his head to be used as a pillow. "Also, I told you it wouldn't take five minutes," he teased, with a wide grin.

Sirius sat up a bit when it seemed as if Remus had no intention in flipping them again. He settled on Remus' knees, continuing to grin down at Remus. It was strange and comforting to think that this was akin to what they had to look forward for the rest of their lives. Once Sirius got past all the shit that waited for him back home, there was quiet and easy part waiting for them.

"Close enough," Sirius said dismissively with a lazy shrug of his shoulders.

"I'm glad you're back, Moony," Sirius said, his voice taking on a somewhat more serious edge. He knew he'd told Remus it was okay for him to leave. And it was. And maybe -- his heart clenched a bit at this -- this Moony was going to want to go to. He'd accept it, if he had to. But he also wouldn't deny that he was glad to unexpectedly see Remus again.

His other free hand shifted to rest against his chest, though his eyes remained on Sirius as he did. With a light shrug of his shoulders and an accompanying smirk, he agreed to the statement.

And then the corner of his lips shifted from the smirk into a more honest smile. "I know," he replied. He wasn't ready to say he was back or not. His head was such a whirlwind of it all, as he tried to settle out events that had occurred and in what order. "I'm glad you aren't alone," he decided to add, because that didn't need any sorting out. He was very glad of it.

"Are you going to stay?" Sirius asked, his voice soft. He was wary of even asking the question. He knew he should probably just enjoy the time he had with Remus. It was what he had done when the younger Remus had decided to leave, and he knew it was best not to get too used to Remus staying here again.

But some part of him just needed to know what to expect. It did seem easier to know if he was going to have to say good-bye, to console himself with the fact that Remus was going to meet up with him again in real time. He didn't just want to wake up one morning and find that Remus was gone.

He was silent for a moment, letting his gaze fall down away from Sirius. And his hand shifted, moving up to take hold of Sirius' gently in his own. He held it as he tried to think of a way to say his words. "I think if I went home, they would simply bring me back," he explained, before shifting his gaze back up to Sirius.

His arm moved out from behind his head and he used his elbow to push him up so he was at eye level with Sirius, while his hand dropped his and he cautiously reached out to stroke the back of his hand against his cheek. "Do you want me to stay?"

Sirius couldn't help but be surprised when Remus reached forward and took his hands -- an odd parallel to when Sirius had been saying good-bye to Remus before. But one he readily accepted. He didn't shy away from Remus' touch, but kept looking at him, listening intently as he began to speak.

It did seem like they were unerringly fond of being his Remus back. He disappeared and returned almost straight away -- and this time it even been by choice to leave. So maybe there was something more tying Remus here.

"I just want you to be happy, Moony," Sirius said quietly, an echo of what he'd told him before, but still true all the same. It was why he had done nothing at all when he'd found out that Remus was with another Sirius, strange as that had been, and even stranger as it had become when he'd found out that they eventually ended up together. And it was, of course, also why he had readily let Remus go -- just for the promise that Remus had something happy to return to.

"I'll manage," he responded, pulling his hand back to set down on his chest. He was from a time where he was happier at home. Here, he had wanted originally to never leave, because he wanted to be with the other Sirius. But that was months ago in compound time, even though it felt like it was years back while simultaneously being days back. That Sirius was gone, young just as he was, and he had newer memories. Everything was a whirlwind in his head. Back home, it was simple. He was just beginning to court Sirius and he didn't have pressure of anything on him but to try and make Sirius happy.

"I'm sure I will be soon enough," he added just to reassure Sirius. It was true. He could be happy in the compound. He had been there for so long, off and on, that it was simple enough.
